A New Frontier, a Clear Intention
Miraia, Designing Stillness on the Sea, began with a rare blank canvas. The brief asked for more than spectacle. It asked for a home that helps its owners arrive, slow, and feel composed. As Dubai architects trusted by clients searching for a top architectural firm Dubai, we framed the project around stillness, rhythm, and climate comfort.
“Our aim was to create a house you feel before you reach the door, a calm sequence that lets the day fall away,” says Lee Nellis, Principal Architect.
Designing the Flow of Water

At the centre sits a sunken courtyard where water, light, and movement meet. Rooms open to living elements in every direction, so the plan reads as a gentle loop rather than a line of closed boxes. Deep reveals temper glare, planted courts guide breeze, and views run from pool to garden to sky. The name Miraia combines a Latin root for reflection with a soft feminine cadence, a nod to a layout that is curving, layered, and quietly alive.
“Water, shade, and planting do the heavy lifting when comfort is the goal. They settle the air and connect family life to the landscape,” says Margaret Pluta, Landscape Architect.
This approach underpins luxury villa design by award-winning architects at Miraia. Materials are honest and tactile, with stone you want to touch and timber that will mellow with time. The result is Dubai villa interior design that feels grounded and serene, while supporting modern villa interior design with adaptable lighting and concealed storage.
Composed as One Studio, Recognised on the World Stage
Miraia was designed end-to-end by Nellis Architecture. Architecture, interiors, and landscape were held in one conversation from the first sketch to the final detail. The curved façade ties the levels together and the interiors carry a simple structural rhythm so rooms flow without fuss. Detailing is precise, yet never loud, from hand-set joins to reveals tuned for breeze and shade.
“My responsibility is to ensure construction follows the drawings, details land correctly, and the site stays safe and clean,” says Quinton Murdoch, Associate Architect.
The project’s clarity and restraint earned the 5-Star Best Architecture Single Residence, Dubai title at the International Property Awards 2025. For a studio of award-winning architects, the accolade confirms an ethos rather than a style. Homes should breathe, protect, and quietly support daily life. Miraia shows how architectural design led by context can feel both intimate and expansive, both crafted and effortless.
